It's the time of year, once again, to shower those that we care about with gifts. The best way to show someone you care is to create something just for them. Even better is having the joy of creating them. What fits into my time schedule and I'm sure yours, are fun little projects that can be completed in a short amount of time, yet are lovely and can be enjoyed and used by the recipient.
A fun project to make, that is currently "all the rage", are Mug Rugs. Basically these are cute little quilts, which are really coasters and are generous enough in size to hold both a coffee cup and a tasty little treat. They can also double as fun little ornaments or hot pads. It is so much fun to make seasonal ones. No rules, you get to choose. Try out a new quilt block style, test out a new embroidery design, sample a new binding technique or even better use an embroidery design that is actually designed to make a mug rug. Mug Rug embroidery designs are fun projects are all done "IN THE HOOP". These are fast and easy and turn out simply great (not to mention they are a great way to use up some fun fabrics - BONUS!!).
Another fast and fun gift is to embroider and personalize a ready made item. In my tip from November I talked about adding monogramming to pre-made pillows. These are perfect to have on hand for last minute gifts - talk about fast!! For the fun lovers in your life, consider those cute stuffed animals that are just longing for their tummies to be embroidered. these are just as fun to make as they are to give! Their backsides have a zipper that allows generous access to remove the stuffing and hoop up. When done, replace the stuffing and zip them back up.
