Candice Jewett: Serger Cafe Class - Federal Way

SERGER CAFE welcomes all brands and levels of sergers. The goal of Serger Cafe is to provide projects that familiarize you with the features of your serger and offer projects that demonstrate how much more sergers do than seams or edges.

Where possible, I also use patterns/projects that can be finished in class because we all retain and understand information when we make and complete a project.

The only prerequisite is that your serger be in good working order and you know how to thread it. As always, we also offer free classes if you would like to learn more about threading your serger.

July's Class Description:
This fun Christmas stocking features rustic burlap fabric with a coverstitch ruffled cuff as well as a uniquely embellished bow. Learn how to tame burlap, clean finish the edges, gather with the coverstitch, topstitch the ruffles in place and make a the unique button/bow.

August's Class Description:
Make a delicate pillowcase with a 6 inch band of beautiful lace edgings, entredeux and insertion laces. The ease with which your serger attaches lace to lace and lace to fabric will surprise you. The vintage look pillowcase will add a touch of elegance to any bedroom or make an impressive gift for a very lucky family member or friend.

September's Class Description:
The Weekender Tote by Nancy Zieman is made with double-sided quilted fabric, is super sized with sturdy straps, double pockets and a zippered top. This sturdy bag is so handy to grab and go for an impromptu weekend trip, day at the park or, for the person who just likes large purses (approximately 15-1/2" x 21-1/2" x 8" deep), it will hold everything and anything you need.

October's Class Description:
An adorable addition to your fall and Thanksgiving decor and an easy way to change 'seasons' in your home. This pillow wrap features a plump chenille pumpkin, chenille hemmed edges and coverstitch hemmed ends. Great project to become more comfortable with the coverstitch/chain side of your serger.

November's Class Description:
With the holidays around the corner you are in for an easy, information loaded class...I will be doing all of the work! I have several last minute gift ideas/projects that I will be demonstrating. These will include the contents of a hostess gift basket, holiday pillow 'sleeve' that has coverstitch belt loop ties, tree napkins, fancy guest towels, gift tags and more. Some will use heirloom laces while others will use threads you may not be familiar with and I will have detailed handouts for each of you, including a family favorite cookie recipe. Happy Thanksgiving!
