Candice Jewett: Serger Cafe Class - Federal Way

SERGER CAFE welcomes all brands and levels of sergers. The goal of Serger Cafe is to provide projects that familiarize you with the features of your serger and offer projects that demonstrate how much more sergers do than seams or edges.

Where possible, I also use patterns/projects that can be finished in class because we all retain and understand information when we make and complete a project.

The only prerequisite is that your serger be in good working order and you know how to thread it. As always, we also offer free classes if you would like to learn more about threading your serger.

November's Class Description:
With the holidays around the corner you are in for an easy, information loaded class...I will be doing all of the work! I have several last minute gift ideas/projects that I will be demonstrating. These will include the contents of a hostess gift basket, holiday pillow 'sleeve' that has coverstitch belt loop ties, tree napkins, fancy guest towels, gift tags and more. Some will use heirloom laces while others will use threads you may not be familiar with and I will have detailed handouts for each of you, including a family favorite cookie recipe. Happy Thanksgiving!

December's Class Description:

January's Class Description:
Looking at the quilt you can't help but smile. It's beautiful and I think everyone will have a lot of fun playing with the colors for the backing, ruffles and more. We will use the gathering foot and gather with the coverstitch. In addition, the ruffle edges will be finished with the either the wave stitch or a deco 3 thread overlock. The binding is a self binding and finishes quickly or you may use the wave stitch to finish the edge. This was originally designed by the talented Pam Mahshie, with Babylock for National Serger Month.

February's Class Description:
This cute upcycled sweatshirt is a perfect to practice and learn how to rework a ready made garment. You will also embellish with either the Deco Wave or Deco 3 thread wide, learn more or new techniques while working with ribbing and knit and adding a new button loop/closure. Mine will be a vest but it could also be a jacket. You also have the option of making the barrel shaped buttons which I will demonstrate.
