Bernina Gathering Foot - Wide #16
The Bernina Gathering Foot #16 (Wide) gathers lightweight and medium-weight fabric as it sews. The foot feeds the material unevenly, pulling the lower layer into soft gathers while keeping the upper layer flat. This lets you gather a single layer on its own, or gather and attach it to a flat piece in one step.
Adjustable Gather Density
The amount of gathering depends on your stitch length, tension, and fabric weight. Longer stitches and lighter fabrics produce fuller gathers. Shorter stitches and heavier fabrics produce gentler gathers. Experiment with scrap fabric first to dial in the look you want.
