Juki MO-2800: Air-Powered Threading for Fast Serger Setup
The Juki MO-2800 eliminates the most frustrating part of serger operation: threading the loopers. A motor-driven jet of air pushes thread from the entry point through the upper and lower loopers in seconds. Combined with the automatic needle threader, the MO-2800 goes from empty to ready faster than any manual-threading serger. The machine handles 2, 3, and 4 thread configurations for overlock stitches, rolled hems, and flatlock techniques. A knee lift lever, magnetic needle tray, and adjustable presser foot pressure add convenience for garment sewers and quilters.
Jet-Air Looper Threading
Place the thread in the threading hole and press the lever. The electric motor sends a burst of air that carries the thread through the looper path instantly. Both upper and lower loopers thread in seconds, not minutes. This system removes the guesswork and frustration from serger setup.
Automatic Needle Threader
The built-in needle threader handles both needle positions. Guide the thread into the threader mechanism, push the lever, and the thread passes through the needle eye. Combined with the air-powered looper threading, complete rethreading takes a fraction of the time.
Simple Threading Path
The threading system follows a clear, direct path from spool to looper. Color-coded guides show the route for each thread. The air threading handles the difficult internal section, while the external path uses standard tension discs and guides.
Accessible Controls
Front-mounted controls put stitch adjustments within easy reach. The cutting width dial adjusts seam allowance width. A dedicated lever deactivates the upper knife when you need to serge without cutting. The thread trimmer blade sits at a convenient angle for quick thread snips.
Air Threading Activation
Separate controls activate the upper and lower looper air threading independently. Position your thread, push the corresponding lever, and the motor does the rest. The system works with standard serger threads and handles the full range of thread weights.
Knee Lift Lever
The included knee lift raises the presser foot up to 6mm while keeping both hands on your fabric. Position pieces, pivot at corners, and remove finished work without reaching for the foot lever.
Rolled Hemming
Switch to rolled hem mode for delicate edges on scarves, napkins, and lightweight fabrics. The conversion is quick, producing narrow, tightly wrapped edges suitable for formal and decorative finishing.
Safety Features
The machine prevents operation when the presser foot is raised or the cover is open. This protects against accidental starts and keeps fingers clear of moving parts during threading and adjustments.
Dual LED Lighting
Two LED lights illuminate the needle and cutting area without generating heat. The lighting stays cool during long sewing sessions and provides clear visibility on dark fabrics.
