FAQs
What makes a vacuum good for pet hair?
Pet hair wraps around a brush roll and works its way into carpet fibers, so the machines that handle it well combine strong suction with a motorized brush rather than suction alone. Sealed filtration matters just as much, because dander is what most people react to. Our pet hair vacuums all pair a power nozzle with a sealed bag system.
Are bagged or bagless vacuums better for pet hair?
Bagged models have the edge for homes with pets. A sealed bag traps hair and dander until you throw it away, while emptying a bagless bin releases some of it back into the room. Bagless is more convenient and costs less to run, so the choice comes down to whether anyone in the house reacts to dander.
What to weigh:
- Allergies: Choose bagged with a sealed HEPA system.
- Running cost: Bagless has no bags to buy.
- Shedding volume: Heavy shedders fill a bin quickly, so a larger bagged capacity means fewer trips.
Which brands do you carry for pet owners?
Three lines cover most pet households, and each one is built around a different priority.
Our pet hair brands:
Will a pet vacuum help with allergies?
It helps when the whole machine is sealed, not just filtered. A HEPA filter only does its job if the air is forced through it instead of leaking past the seams, which is the difference between a machine labeled "HEPA filter" and one built as a sealed system. Pair a sealed vacuum with regular bag changes and most people notice a difference within a few weeks.
How often should bags and filters be changed in a pet home?
More often than the manual assumes, because pet hair fills a bag faster than household dust. Change the bag when it reaches roughly two thirds full rather than waiting for it to pack solid, since airflow drops well before the bag is full and a starved motor picks up less. Replacement vacuum bags and filters for every brand we sell are stocked in store.
Can I use these on hardwood as well as carpet?
Yes, though the right tool matters. A spinning brush roll can scatter hair on bare floors and scuff a soft finish, so look for a model with a brush shutoff or add a dedicated smooth-floor tool. Canisters handle mixed flooring most easily because you swap the head rather than the machine.
