FAQs
What ages are kids sewing classes for?
Most kids sewing classes are geared toward children ages 8 and up, though age ranges vary by class. Some sessions are designed specifically for teens, while others welcome younger kids with a parent or guardian present. Check the individual class listing for the recommended age range.
Does my child need to bring their own sewing machine?
In most cases, yes. Kids should bring a sewing machine they're familiar with. If your child doesn't have their own machine yet, call the store location before class and we'll do our best to have one available for them to borrow.
Does my child need sewing experience before taking a class?
Not for beginner classes. Sessions like Kids Sewing with Carolann and the Intro to Sewing: Easy Pillowcase start from scratch with basic machine operation, straight stitching, and simple project construction. Some other classes may benefit from basic familiarity with a sewing machine.
What kinds of projects do kids make in class?
Projects are chosen to be fun and age-appropriate while building real skills. Some classes will result in a finished project they can take home, others offer guidance on current projects.
Can a parent or guardian stay during the class?
Yes. Parents are welcome to stay and observe, and some classes for younger children expect a parent to be present to assist. The class description will note if a parent or guardian is required. For teens, parent attendance is optional.
