Bag & Tote Sewing Classes

Classes cover a wide range of bag styles, from simple lined tote bags to structured purses, zippered pouches, wallets, sling bags, and travel bags. Each class focuses on a specific project you'll complete during the session. Check the individual class description for details on what you'll be making.

It depends on the project. Some classes like the Introduction to Sewing: Tote Bag are built for total beginners. Others, like the Ultimate Travel Bag 2.0, require comfort with zippers, interfacing, and more advanced construction. Each class listing notes the recommended skill level.

Plan on bringing your own machine to class. If you don't have one, just call the store location ahead of time. We can typically have a machine ready for you to use during the session.

Each class has its own supply list, which is included in the class description. Most bag classes require fabric, interfacing or stabilizer, a zipper (depending on the project), and basic sewing tools like scissors, pins, and thread. Some classes include all supplies in the registration fee, so check before you shop.

Zippy Skill Builder classes are a specific series focused on smaller zippered pouches. Each one teaches a different zipper technique (double zips, curved zips, lined pouches) through a quick, focused project. Regular bag classes cover larger projects like totes, purses, and travel bags with more involved construction. The Zippy classes are a great way to build zipper confidence before tackling a bigger bag project.
