Bernette 05 Academy: 30 Stitches and 12 Presser Feet to Start
The Bernette 05 Academy includes 30 built-in stitches, 12 presser foot soles, and a slide-on extension table. A speed limiter adjusts from 650 to 1,110 SPM, and adjustable presser foot pressure with retractable feed dogs handle a range of fabrics.
30 Stitches with Lycra and Blanket Stitch
The stitch set covers essential utility stitches, a 1-step buttonhole, and two standout additions: a Lycra stitch for super stretchy materials and a blanket stitch for decorative edges. All 30 stitches are selected directly on the machine for quick access.
Adjustable Presser Foot Pressure
Adjustable presser foot pressure prevents gathering on thin fabrics and keeps thick layers feeding evenly. Pair it with the upper thread tension adjustment to balance the top and bobbin threads for clean stitches on both sides of the fabric.
Large Slide-On Extension Table
The included extension table attaches easily and expands the work surface for larger projects. Its rounded shape lets fabric glide smoothly during sewing, making it especially useful for quilting, home decor, or garment work that needs extra support.
Speed Limiter
The speed limiter switches between full speed at 1,110 SPM and half speed at 650 SPM. Use half speed for tricky curves, corners, and detailed stitching. Full speed handles long straight seams and production sewing efficiently.
Retractable Feed Dogs
Lower the feed dogs with a switch on the back of the machine to enable free-motion sewing and darning. With the feed dogs down, you guide the fabric by hand for even stitch spacing on repairs and decorative techniques.
12 Presser Foot Soles
The machine ships with 12 presser foot soles covering zigzag, embroidery, buttonhole, zipper, and more. The machine recommends the appropriate foot for each stitch, and an easy-to-attach finger guard adds safety for new sewists.
LED Lighting
A bright LED light illuminates the sewing area for clear visibility on dark and detailed fabrics. The LED produces less heat than traditional bulbs and lasts longer without replacement.
