One-Step Bernina Air Threader

The Bernina L 890 QE threads both loopers with a single press of the foot control. The machine automatically positions the loopers correctly for air threading. No handwheel turning, no searching for the right position. Both hands stay free to guide the thread, and you're ready to sew in seconds.

Color Touchscreen with Expert and Guided Modes

The centrally located color touchscreen handles stitch selection, settings, and memory. Expert Mode gives experienced users direct access to all parameters. Guided Mode walks beginners through stitch selection and machine setup step by step. Both modes automatically set thread tension, stitch length, and differential feed when you select a stitch.

2, 3, 4 or 5 Thread Capability

The L 890 QE sews overlock, chainstitch, coverstitch, and combo stitches using 2 to 5 threads. Create perfect 1/4" seams with the included seam guide. Use chainstitches for open seams on quilt blocks. Add surface texture with coverstitches. Combine overlock and coverstitches for extra-durable 4- or 5-thread combo seams on stretch fabrics.

Total Stitch Control

Adjust stitch length, differential feed, thread tension, and cutting width while sewing. Save up to 100 stitches in Personal Memory with your custom settings. The Micro Thread Control (mtc) knob lets you fine-tune the overedge thread amount for decorative stitch variations. Set the needle stop permanently up or down depending on your technique.

Speed and Precision

Sew up to 1,350 stitches per minute or slow down to stitch-by-stitch for precise curves and corners. Program and control maximum and minimum speeds via the touchscreen. The L 890 QE runs quietly at any speed.

Generous Workspace

5 5/8" to the right of the needle provides more room than any other Bernina overlocker. The included extension table expands your work surface. A freearm handles sleeves, cuffs, and closed items. The presser foot lifts 6mm with additional front foot lift for positioning thick seams under the foot.

Quick Threading

Color-coded one-path threading lets you switch between overlock, coverstitch, and combo stitches using the same thread paths. On-screen animations guide every setup.
