Machine Packing Guidelines

Follow these instructions to help ensure your sewing machine arrives safely for service.

Email machine details to info@qualitysewing.com before mailing.

Wait for confirmation before shipping.

Sturdy Box

  • Use original packaging if available. Avoid old, weakened boxes
  • Visit UPS store/FedEx store to get a quality box in the closest size
  • Choose quality box with 3-4" of padding space

Prep Machine

  • Fold down thread stands to prevent damage (sergers have telescoping thread stands)
  • For some Baby Lock sergers, remove the back by pinching tabs and pulling out
  • Remove detachable accessories
  • Lower presser foot and needle

Protect Parts

  • Add foam around knobs, dials, and control panels
  • Provide extra padding for LCD screens to prevent cracks
  • Place soft material between any moving parts to prevent shifting

Secure Items

  • Place accessories in sealed bags
  • Secure power cords with twist ties
  • Organize parts by function for easy unpacking

Embroidery Units

  • To prevent damage during shipping, embroidery unit must be sent in its own package
  • Ship embroidery units in original packaging if possible
  • Put embroidery unit into Park Mode before disconnecting from machine

For Service Repair
  • Include foot control pedal for speed-related issues

  • Include power cord if experiencing power issues

  • Do not send unnecessary accessories or thread collections

For Trade-In Machines
  • Include ALL original accessories and attachments

  • Send any special feet or extensions that came with machine

  • Include original manual if available

Documentation Required
  • Include printed list of everything in the box

  • Write down model, serial numbers, and description of issues (if sending in for service repair.)

  • Email information to: info@qualitysewing.com

  • Wait for confirmation reply before shipping

Use Expanding Foam Only
  • Do not use bubble wrap - it compresses during shipping

  • Expanding foam products like InstaPak create custom protection

  • Place foam on all sides, at least 3 inches thick
