Baby Lock Sashiko 2: Machine-Made Stitches with a Hand-Sewn Look
The Baby Lock Sashiko 2 replicates traditional Japanese hand stitching with a specialty needle and latch wire system. Adjustable stitch length and spacing, a single-stitch mode, and free-flow sewing give you full control over decorative and functional sashiko work.
Precise Sashiko Stitches
A specialty needle works with a latch wire system to form each stitch with defined spacing between them. The mechanism produces consistent, evenly spaced stitches that match the look of traditional hand-sewn sashiko without the time investment of stitching by hand.
Specialty Stitch Mode
Single-stitch mode completes one full stitch-and-space cycle per activation. This gives you precise placement control for techniques like braiding, couching, cross-stitching, and adding trim where each stitch position matters.
Stitch Length and Spacing Control
Two adjustable levers set stitch length (2-5mm) and stitch spacing (2-5mm) independently. Shorter stitches with tighter spacing create dense, detailed patterns. Longer settings produce bolder, more open designs typical of traditional sashiko work.
Free-Flow Sewing and U-Shaped Lamp
The adjustable presser foot height makes it easy to turn fabric and stitch circles, squares, and curved shapes without stopping. A U-shaped fluorescent lamp surrounds the needle area for full illumination across the entire work surface.
LED Stitch Monitor
The LED indicator displays whether the needle is in the stitch or space portion of the cycle. This makes it easy to track your position during detailed work and when using specialty stitch mode for single-stitch placement.
Side-Loading Bobbin System
The oscillating bobbin loads from the side for quick access and easy thread changes between colors. The conveniently placed bobbin case keeps loading fast, especially during multi-color sashiko projects that require frequent changes.
Built-In Bobbin Winder
Wind bobbins directly on the machine without removing the current bobbin from the case. Prepare several bobbins in advance for multi-color sashiko work and longer projects that go through thread quickly.
Optional Extension Table
An optional 18" x 24" extension table adds workspace around the machine for managing larger quilts and fabric panels. Available separately from Baby Lock Sashiko accessories.
