Baby Lock Ursa Embroidery Machine
The Ursa is a dedicated embroidery machine built around an 8" x 14" field, so large designs stitch out in one hooping instead of two. Placement tools, a 7" touchscreen and a library of 914 built-in designs cover everything from quilting motifs to dimensional couching and crochet lace. See the rest of the range in our embroidery machines collection.

8" x 14" Embroidery Field
The 8" x 14" (200mm x 360mm) hoop handles larger designs without re-hooping partway through. Fewer hoopings means fewer alignment problems on long borders, quilt blocks and back-of-jacket designs.

2-Point Positioning with LED Pointer
The Needle Beam checks points of a design against the fabric before stitching starts. For projects that have to line up, 2-point positioning moves and rotates the design into place automatically rather than by trial and error.

914 Built-In Designs
Design categories cover quilting, French knots, couching, crochet lace and 3-D applique, along with 23 standard fonts and 7 large decorative fonts. There is enough on the machine to work from without buying designs on day one.

Resizing with Stitch Recalculation
Most designs can be sized from 60% up to 200%. The Ursa recalculates the stitches as it resizes, so density stays consistent instead of thinning out on a larger design or bunching on a smaller one.

Couching and Textured Details
The embroidery couching alphabet and crochet couching designs add yarn and dimension to a project. The couching foot Y with guide is included in the box.

WLAN Transfers and App Monitoring
The Ursa updates its own software over WLAN and accepts designs from Design Database Transfer, a free download, or Palette 11, sold separately. The IQ Intuition Monitoring app tracks a running project from another room.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Baby Lock Ursa sew as well as embroider?
No. The Ursa is a dedicated embroidery machine, so it embroiders only. If you want one machine that does both, the Baby Lock Luna pairs the same 8" x 14" embroidery field with 791 built-in sewing stitches.
How large is the embroidery field on the Ursa?
The maximum field is 8" x 14" (200mm x 360mm), and the matching frame set is included along with a 5" x 7" (130mm x 180mm) set. The larger field means long borders and big block designs stitch in one hooping instead of two, which removes the alignment step that causes most re-hooping errors.
How many designs and fonts are built in?
There are 914 built-in designs covering quilting, French knots, couching, crochet lace and 3-D applique, plus 23 standard fonts and 7 large decorative fonts. There is enough on the machine to work from without buying a design pack first.
Can I resize designs without losing quality?
Yes. Most designs can be scaled from 60% up to 200%, and the Ursa recalculates the stitch count as it resizes. Density stays consistent, so an enlarged design does not thin out and a reduced one does not bunch up.
How do I get designs onto the machine?
The Ursa connects over WLAN for software updates and design transfers. It accepts files from Design Database Transfer, a free download, or Palette 11, sold separately, and reads .pes, .phc and .dst. The IQ Intuition Monitoring app tracks a running project from another room.
What warranty comes with the Ursa?
Baby Lock covers it with a 25-year limited warranty, 10-year parts, 5-year circuit boards, 5-year electrical and 1-year labor. Quality Sewing adds a 1-Year Quality Sewing Warranty on top. See the rest of the range in our embroidery machines collection.
