The Bernina Straight Stitch Hemmer #62 is made for sewing very narrow 2 mm hems on lightweight materials. The scroll at the front of the foot turns the fabric under twice, and a guide in the sole directs the folded edge to the needle. The double turn prevents fraying and produces a clean, finished edge.

Fine Fabrics and Sheer Materials

This foot works best on thin, lightweight fabrics where a wider hem would look bulky. It is a good choice for silk scarves, chiffon blouse hems, fine cotton napkins, and other projects where a minimal hem is preferred. The 2 mm finished width keeps the hem nearly invisible.
