Ready-to-Print Fabric for Sun Printing
Cyanotype is the original sun-printing process, dating to the mid-1800s and known for its deep blue color. These pretreated cotton sateen sheets arrive sensitized, so there is no chemical mixing or coating before you print.
Sunlight turns the exposed fabric blue, while anything blocking the light leaves a white silhouette called a photogram. The letter-size sheets suit quilt blocks, patches and small framed pieces.
- 10 sheets of pre-sensitized cotton sateen, 8.5" x 11" each
- Objects or transparencies: lay down leaves, lace or a printed photo or drawing
- 3 to 10 minutes of sun exposure, depending on conditions
- Rinse in water to bring out the blue image, then let the sheet dry
