High-Speed Straight Stitch for Quilting and Heavy-Duty Sewing
The Janome HD9QC Professional is a straight-stitch machine built for speed and durability, with a maximum of 1,650 stitches per minute and up to 11 lbs of presser foot pressure. Eight enclosed ball bearings in the main shaft keep the machine running quietly at high speeds, while the industrial HLx5 needle system handles denim, canvas, leather, and thick batting without hesitation. This makes it a practical choice for quilters, dressmakers, and anyone who regularly works with heavy fabrics.
Large Workspace
The 9" × 5.9" workspace gives you a clear sewing field for straight seams through large fabric panels and quilt tops. Attaching the included extension table expands the total sewing surface to 23.5" × 15.75", giving you enough room to manage full quilt tops without constant repositioning. A dimmable LED light illuminates the work area, so you can adjust brightness to suit your lighting conditions or fabric color.
Needle System and Presser Foot Pressure
The industrial HLx5 needle system powers through multiple layers of denim, canvas, and leather without deflecting. Presser foot pressure adjusts up to 11 lbs via a dial with an indicator window, and the extra high presser foot lift opens wide enough for thick batting stacks or stacked seam allowances.
Controls and Speed Management
The speed control slider sets a maximum SPM limit so the foot control stays fully responsive within your chosen range, useful for precision topstitching and corners on heavy material. The front panel's automatic thread cutter button clips thread at needle and bobbin simultaneously, and memorized needle up/down stops the needle at the same position every cycle.
Feed System and Stitch Plate
The 3-piece industrial feed dog system moves fabric evenly at up to a 6mm stitch length, keeping feed consistent across fabric weights and layer counts. Drop feed disables the feed dogs entirely for free-motion quilting, and the floating function lets the presser foot ride over thick seam intersections without skipping stitches.
Jumbo Bobbin System
The side-loading jumbo bobbin holds 1.4x more thread than a standard bobbin, cutting down on refills during long straight-stitch runs. An independent bobbin winder motor winds bobbins separately from the main motor, so you can refill mid-project without running the machine idle.
Threading and Thread Delivery
The industrial pretension threading system handles both standard and heavy weight threads without shredding or skipping stitches. Vertical, two spool thread delivery keeps feed consistent across thread weights, and the Heavy Weight Thread Guide (HWTG) routes thicker threads cleanly through the path. A built-in needle threader simplifies setup at the start of each project.
