Stitching through fusible web or sticky stabilizer coats a standard needle in adhesive within a few inches. Once that happens the needle drags, the thread frays and stitches start skipping. The Anti-Glue needle is coated in a non-stick coating that keeps adhesive from bonding to the point or shaft.
