Straight scissors force you to tilt the hoop or lift the fabric to get at a jump stitch, which is how stitched areas get distorted. The double curve on these puts the blades flat against the fabric while your hand stays clear above the hoop, and the second curve keeps your wrist neutral so long trimming sessions do not turn into a hand cramp.
