Precise Ruler-Guided Free-Motion Quilting
The Pfaff or Viking Free Motion Ruler Foot is built for quilters who use acrylic template rulers to create precise quilting designs. The foot floats above the fabric and positions the needle exactly 1/4" from the outer edge, giving you consistent spacing as you trace along ruler templates.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which machines does this ruler foot fit?
It fits Pfaff groups J and L plus a small set of Viking models: creative icon, creative icon 2, performance icon, creative performance 950, creative expression 750, quilt expression 725, expression 715, and creative elevate 680.
What does a ruler foot do?
It rides above the fabric with a tall, thick outer edge that runs against an acrylic quilting ruler. The ruler stops the foot from drifting, so the needle tracks a straight line, a curve, or whatever shape the ruler holds.
How far is the needle from the edge of the foot?
A quarter inch on every side. That fixed distance is what makes ruler work predictable: set the ruler a quarter inch inside the line you want stitched and the needle lands on the line.
Do I need special rulers for this?
Use rulers made for machine quilting, which are thicker than rotary cutting rulers, usually a quarter inch. A thin rotary ruler can slide under the foot and reach the needle.
Does the feed dog need to be lowered?
Yes. Ruler work is free motion, so drop the feed dog and move the fabric yourself. The red alignment marks on the foot show where the needle will land as you travel along the ruler.
