The Same Needle, Harder Wearing

The ELx705 is designed for electronic multi-purpose sergers that do the overlock, cover, safety, and mock safety stitches. They have a long groove on both the front and the back of the blade to help reduce skipped stitches. The second long groove is needed to create chain stitches (like overlock and coverlock stitches).

What the chrome changes is durability. The plating is harder and reduces heat faster than standard nickel, so the point stays sharp through longer runs. Worth it if you serge in volume or run dense fabrics that dull a needle quickly.
