FAQs

What type of vacuum cleaner is best for my home?

It depends on your floors and household:

  • Mostly carpet: An upright vacuum with a motorized brush roll gives the deepest clean.
  • Mostly hard floors: A canister vacuum with a hard floor brush head avoids scratching while picking up fine dust.
  • Mix of both: A canister with a combo floor tool, or an upright with a brush roll shutoff for hard floors.
  • Pets: Look for sealed HEPA filtration and tangle-free brush designs. See our pet hair vacuums.
  • Quick cleanups: A cordless stick vacuum or handheld for daily spot cleaning between deep cleans.

What vacuum brands does Quality Sewing carry?

We are authorized dealers for premium vacuum brands:

  • Miele: German-engineered canisters and uprights known for filtration and longevity.
  • SEBO: Commercial-grade German-made uprights and canisters with hospital-level filtration.
  • Riccar: American-designed vacuums with strong suction and HEPA filtration.
  • Simplicity: Reliable home vacuums at a range of price points.

All machines include manufacturer warranties and can be serviced at our Washington state locations.

Do you service and repair vacuum cleaners?

Yes. Our certified technicians service all major vacuum brands at our service and repair locations across Washington state. Services include belt and brush roll replacement, motor repair, HEPA filter replacement, suction testing, and full tune-ups. We service vacuums purchased from Quality Sewing as well as machines bought elsewhere.

What is HEPA filtration and do I need it?

HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filters capture 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns, including dust mites, pollen, mold spores, and pet dander. A vacuum with HEPA filtration traps these allergens inside the machine instead of blowing them back into the room. HEPA is strongly recommended for households with allergy or asthma sufferers, pets, or anyone concerned about indoor air quality. Most Miele, SEBO, and Riccar models include sealed HEPA systems.

Should I buy a bagged or bagless vacuum?

Bagged vacuums trap dust inside a sealed bag that gets tossed when full. No dust exposure during disposal, and filtration stays consistent as the bag fills. Bagless vacuums use a dust bin you empty and reuse, which saves money on bags but releases dust back into the air when emptied. For allergy sufferers, bagged is the better choice. Most premium brands we carry (Miele, SEBO, Riccar) use bags for this reason. Browse our full selection of vacuum bags for replacements.
